Cheevers Poole was appointed to renovate this magnificent 200-year-old Grade II listed building, doubling the living space for our client. Major excavation works occurred to deliver a 3-storey basement with a gym, commercial kitchen, games room, workspace, plant rooms and guest suite. Once the studio of the artist Lord Leighton, the floor to ceiling windows have been sensitively restored, overlooking a garden courtyard designed by Randle Siddeley. Careful works were carried out to retain a pair of arches that formed the original walkway into the main house, testimony to the exceptional lengths the architect and our team went to preserving this property’s illustrious history. Complex access restrictions were managed sensitively in collaboration with the neighbouring school and synagogue to minimise disruption to their daily activities.
The Cheevers Poole people are just incredible – everyone is so passionate, talented and a complete joy to work with. Graham is just amazing and all of your fantastic consultants are so inspiring and their knowledge knows no bounds. I very much look forward to working with you again and continuing to do so and you will be my very first choice.
